New Lingo Systems Guide Opens Doors to Global Marketplace— and Chooses Biggest Translation "Oops!" of the Year.

Portland, OR – (April 23, 2009) –Lingo Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Language Line Services, is pleased to announce the publication of the seventh edition of The Guide to Translation and Localization - Communicating with the Global Marketplace. Co-published with Multilingual magazine, all of the previous editions have won multiple awards and the seventh edition is the biggest and best to date. As usual, the OOPS! entries, highlighting translations gone awry, is one of the most popular attractions.

The 148 page guide has been totally redesigned and is full of new information reflecting the state of the industry, technological advances, and best practices. The new guide also features numerous guest chapters from industry experts and pundits on subjects ranging from content management systems and machine translation issues to a fascinating overview of the future of the translation and localization industry by Renato Beninatto, Chief Connector for Common Sense Advisory.

Since its first edition in 1998, Lingo Systems has distributed more than 25,000 copies of the guide worldwide, which is widely regarded as the definitive resource for the translation and localization industry. Readers will discover the technical strategies necessary for successfully preparing their documentation, software, websites, and training and marketing materials for the global marketplace. They will also find chapters outlining the roles of translation memory systems and interpretation.

“Today, more than 176 different languages and dialects are read and spoken across the country,” says Louis Provenzano, President and COO of Language Line Services. “Cultures and languages are integrating at an increasingly rapid rate, and at the same time more products are being shipped around the globe and more services are being delivered worldwide than ever before.” He adds, “The importance of localizing your business and the value of communicating in the right language have never been greater. The guide recognizes this and delivers tips for planning and executing localization projects, as well as case studies designed to reveal key principles and strategies for success.”
