Case Studies
Localization projects come in all shapes, sizes, and timelines. In fact, one of the most interesting aspects of the localization business is the fact that no two projects are the same. While the common denominator in localization is translation of text from one language to another, everything else about individual projects varies from one to the next.
The technical requirements of the project, coupled with the client’s budget and timeline, influence how projects are executed. There is, in fact, a delicate balance among cost, timeline, and quality that controls each project. Each of the following case studies are based on real projects, but the identifying details have been removed to protect the innocent!
While all localization projects follow similar project process steps, each individual project presents an opportunity to adapt the localization process to precisely match desired outcomes. Each project is unique, so a 'cookie-cutter' approach to localization does not work. The fundamentals, represented by the localization processes described in this book, must be malleable enough to meet the requirements for each client so that budget, timeline, and quality objectives are met. |
